North Shore Warhawks Win AHAI Tier II Girls State Championships

Mount Prospect, IL, March 2, 2026 – The North Shore Warhawks girls' hockey program achieved a significant milestone yesterday at Mount Prospect Ice Arena, as both the 14U Green and 16U Green teams claimed the AHAI Tier II State Championships with impressive shutout performances.

The 14U Green team opened the championship day with a commanding 4-0 victory over the St. Jude Knights at 12:00 p.m. Demonstrating strong puck possession, disciplined defensive play, and effective offensive execution throughout the contest, the Warhawks maintained control from the opening faceoff. Goaltender Claire Lucas delivered an outstanding performance in net, turning aside all shots faced to record the shutout. The team's collective effort, marked by crisp passing, relentless forechecking, and solid defensive support, ensured no scoring opportunities for the opposition. This victory highlights the 14U squad's consistency and teamwork developed over the course of the season.

Following immediately, the 16U Green team faced the Glenview Stars in a tightly contested 1-0 matchup at 1:50 p.m. The game featured intense defensive battles and disciplined play on both sides. The Warhawks broke through on a power-play opportunity, with Alden Lazor providing a precise pass from the point to Ellie Delduchetto, whose shot was deftly deflected past the goaltender by Amelia Arquillano for the game's lone goal. Goaltender Courtney Wiegel was exceptional in goal, making critical saves to preserve the lead and secure the shutout. The team's composure, strategic execution, and ability to capitalize on special teams proved decisive in this hard-fought championship.
