A Monumental Milestone for the North Shore Warhawks Family!

For the first time in the proud history of the North Shore Warhawks girls’ hockey program, both the 14U Green and 16U Green squads have qualified for the 2026 USA Hockey Girls Tier II National Championships in the same season. After dominating the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) Tier II regular season to capture the Presidents Trophy and then claiming the state championship titles on March 2 at Mount Prospect Ice Arena, the two teams traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, and emerged as Central States District Champions at the USA Hockey Central District Championships (March 7-9, 2026).

The 14U Green Road to Nationals

The 14U squad showed true resilience and “heart and hustle” in a competitive pool-play format. They opened with a strong 2-0 shutout victory over Lady Liberty, followed by a dominant 4-1 win against St. Jude. Even after dropping a hard-fought 4-2 decision to WEHL SE, the Warhawks did exactly what champions do: they responded with focus and determination, securing the necessary points to clinch the Central District title and punch their ticket to nationals. The team finished with 6 points, 8 goals for, and 5 against, proving that adversity only makes them stronger.

The 16U Green Road to Nationals

The 16U Green team was simply unstoppable, cruising through an undefeated 3-0 pool with a goal differential that turned heads. They exploded for an 8-0 shutout against Lady Liberty, followed by a commanding 5-2 victory over the Omaha Lady Lancers, and capped the weekend with a 2-0 clean-sheet win against WEHL Western. With 9 points, 15 goals scored, and just 2 allowed, the 16U Warhawks showcased elite defensive structure, relentless forechecking, and clinical finishing, a complete team effort from every player on the roster.

Next Chapter: The National Stage

The journey continues at the 2026 Girls Tier II National Championships, March 25-29:

14U Green will compete in Rochester, Michigan, at Suburban Ice Rochester.

16U Green (competing in the 2A classification) will return to familiar surroundings at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri (just outside St. Louis).

Every game will be streamed live on USAHockeyTV.com — be sure to tune in and show your support!

This is more than two teams going to nationals. It’s a landmark moment for a program that has built a tradition of excellence, developing not only skilled hockey players but confident, resilient young women. The entire North Shore Warhawks family, players, coaches, alumni, and supporters, are incredibly proud of these two squads.

Now it’s time to rally behind them one more time. Pack the bags, wear the green, and let’s make some noise at nationals!
